For millions of migrants, refugees, and people on the move, the road to a better life is paved with difficulty and danger. From their countries of origin around the world to our own borders, migrants face immense challenges at every step of the journey.  We are all immigrants. And we have an obligation to help others along the journey.

The Rubin Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting people on the move, particularly en route to the United States. The greatest thing about our country is that we are not a monolith; we are a mosaic. Migration is, and always has been, the heart and soul of who we are. But today more than ever, we are not living up to the famous promise engraved on the Statue of Liberty – to be a “Mother of Exiles,” in the words of the great Jewish-American poet Emma Lazarus.

Because restrictive immigration policies often drive migrants to move along perilous paths, helping migrants needs to start not only within our borders, but beyond them. And with more people on the move today than ever before – whether displaced by conflict or climate, or simply seeking new opportunities – we believe that we must step up to reaffirm this vision. The future of millions around the world, and the future of our country, is at stake.
