The Rubin Foundation
Helping Migrants at Home
Migrants' journeys don't end when they reach a country of destination. Upon arrival, our new neighbors are faced with a host of fresh challenges, from finding jobs and housing to navigating complex legal issues and integrating into local communities. Some of our aid programs also serve US-born residents. Offering vital services in three states, The Rubin Foundation is here to help at every step of the journey.
US Projects
In addition to our field work in Central America, we also offer assistance for migrants here in the US, whether recent arrivals or those who have been here for decades. We currently have operations in three different cities, and each of our offices offers services such as resettlement assistance for recent arrivals, outreach for at-risk migrant youth, job networking, and homeless outreach. We also work with local NGOs and CSOs to support migrants in need of legal resources.
To get in touch with any of our regional offices, please see our CONTACT section.

Miami, FL
The Rubin Foundation is based in Miami, one of the most vibrant and multicultural cities in America and home to an incredibly diverse migrant community. State policies, however, are often slanted against migrants and asylum seekers, especially those with irregular status. We are dedicated to advocating for migrants and refugees in the broader Miami area. Our most extensive homeless outreach program is based here, serving both homeless migrants and US-born residents.

Minneapolis, MN
As home to one of the most vital migrant communities in America, the birthplace of the George Floyd movement, and the district of one of the most revolutionary leaders in congress, Minneapolis is a crucial center of the racial justice movement in America. Our founder Joseph Rubin has been involved in Minneapolis' activist community since the George Floyd movement, and the strong grassroots activism in Minnesota's fifth district inspired him to establish The Rubin Foundation's second domestic office in the Minneapolis area. In response to intensifying deportation efforts across the country, we are proud to join ranks with a robust coalition of local racial justice organizations to advocate for migrants and refugees in Minneapolis.

Los Angeles, CA
In 2024, The Rubin Foundation established a third office in Los Angeles, which will be the base of future operations on the west coast. As one of the most diverse cities in the US, Los Angeles has long been a haven for people on the move from all around the world. Together with a robust network of local migrant aid organizations, we are committed to keeping Los Angeles a city that welcomes newcomers, especially migrants and refugees. Most recently, we launched a pilot program focusing on harm reduction for those struggling with substance abuse.
